It has been estimated that until the year of 2002 the population of Yapen Waropen regency amounts to 87.797 people with the density of 4,65 Km2. The highest population can be fount in Yapen Selatan subdistrict that amounts to 24.290 people and the rest spread in other subdistrict. In addition there are still several ethnics of Nomad that inhabit the territory of Waropen Atas, Waropen Tengah (Masirei) and Waropen Bawah. The native inhabitant consists of Yapen people and Waropen people added by other comers from different regencies in Papua Province and another Provincies in Indonesia. In 1999 the number of work force was 60.431 people which among them there were 3.600 people looking for job.
